Your Mac, served on iPad & iPhone — over your own network or VPN.

Getting started

  1. On your Mac, open System Settings → General → Sharing and turn on Screen Sharing. (On macOS 12 and earlier: System Preferences → Sharing.)
  2. In Ramen, tap Add Mac and enter the Mac's address — at home that's usually something like yourmac.local (shown in the Screen Sharing settings).
  3. Sign in with your Mac's username and password. That's it — your Mac, served.

Frequently asked

Can I use Ramen away from home?

Yes — if your Mac is reachable. Ramen has no relay servers (that's a feature: your screen never touches anyone else's computer), so away from your own network you'll want a VPN such as Tailscale or WireGuard. Use the address the VPN gives your Mac.

Which Macs work?

Any Mac with Screen Sharing turned on. Ramen speaks the same protocol as macOS Screen Sharing (RFB/VNC), so other VNC servers generally work too.

Why can't I copy something from the Mac to my iPad?

macOS doesn't share its clipboard with third-party screen-sharing apps — a macOS limitation, not a setting. Toward the Mac it works: Ramen's clipboard button can type your device's clipboard as keystrokes, which even works in login windows and password prompts.

Is my screen private?

Your screen travels directly from your Mac to your device — no cloud, no account, no middleman, and Ramen collects nothing. Run it over networks you trust (your home Wi-Fi or your own VPN); see the privacy policy for details.

What doesn't Ramen do (yet)?

File transfer, remote audio, and Windows/Linux hosts aren't supported. Honest menu, small kitchen — more is planned.

How much does it cost?

Ramen is free while it grows.
