🍜 Ramen Remote Desktop — Privacy Policy
The short version: Ramen collects no data. No account, no analytics, no telemetry, no ads, no third-party SDKs. Everything the app knows stays on your device, and your screen goes directly between your device and your Mac.
Data the app stores — on your device only
- Your saved Macs — the name, address, port, username, and per-Mac preferences (display, quality, disconnect behavior) you enter are stored locally on your device so the app can reconnect later.
- Passwords — if you choose “Save password,” it is stored in your device's Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential store. Typing a saved password into the remote screen requires Face ID / Touch ID confirmation. Deleting a saved Mac deletes its password.
- Settings — app preferences (scroll speed, display options, and similar) are stored locally.
None of this leaves your device. There is no sync, no backup service operated by the developer, and no server that could receive it.
Your screen and input
Ramen connects your device directly to your Mac's Screen Sharing (the RFB/VNC protocol) over the network you provide — your Wi-Fi or your own VPN. Screen contents, keyboard and pointer input, and anything you type travel only between your device and your Mac. There are no relay servers, and the developer never sees, stores, or can access your sessions.
Like all VNC-based screen sharing, the connection is as private as the network it runs over. Ramen is designed for trusted networks: your home Wi-Fi, or an encrypted VPN such as Tailscale or WireGuard when you're away.
Face ID / Touch ID
Biometric checks are performed entirely by iOS. Ramen only learns whether the check succeeded — it never sees biometric data.
Local network access
iOS asks you to allow local-network access the first time Ramen connects. Ramen uses it solely to reach the Mac addresses you enter — it does not scan, catalog, or report your network.
What Ramen does not do
- No accounts or sign-up.
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporters.
- No advertising or tracking of any kind.
- No third-party services or SDKs.
- No selling, sharing, or transferring of data — there is no data to sell.
Children
Ramen is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If a future version of Ramen ever changes any of the above (for example, optional crash reporting), this policy will be updated first and the change will be clearly announced in the app's release notes. The current policy always lives at this address.
